The Boston Red Sox have been performing well with a record of 6-4 in their last 10 games. They won, 5-4, against the New York Yankees in their previous match. On the other hand, the Yankees are struggling with a 3-7 win-loss record.
The Red Sox slated Chris Sale (2.75 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) on the mound to go up against Yankees’ Luis Severino (3.54 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) in their next match at Fenway Park.

Yankees’ Severino gave up three runs, one dinger and struck out 10 batters in a 5-3 win in his last match against the Milwaukee Brewers. With a 5-4 win-loss record, he contributed 124 strikeouts for his team in the first half of the season.

While Red Sox’s Sale conceded four runs, two homers and struck out 12 batters in a 4-1 loss in his last match against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Condor holds an 11-4 record and bagged a total of 178 strikeouts before the All-Star break.

Among the Yankees’ batters, Chase Headley has had the most success against the Red Sox’s southpaw; he’s had three runs, six hits and two homers with a .353/.389/.765 and a 1.154 OPS in 17 at-bats against Sale. Headley has been performing decently with nine hits and six runs in his last 10 games.

Despite having a few at-bats against Severino, Red Sox’s Dustin Pedroia has had the most success among the Sox’s batters. With an impressive .429/.429/1.143 line and 1.571 OPS, the Laser Show bagged 5 RBI and a dinger against the Yankees’ starting pitcher. Plus, Pedroia contributed 33 runs and four homers for his team so far.

The New York Yankees have the advantage when it comes to offense (481 runs vs Red Sox’s 436) but it’d be difficult to assume that the Yankees are favorites since Sale has been performing well except for his latest slip up against the Rays. If Severino could somehow get back to his winning ways after losing two-straight, then New York might have a shot. Plus, the Yankees have Headley and the homerun derby winner, Aaron Judge, at their disposal. It will be interesting if Sale could strikeout the Yankees’ best hitters, but that’s easier said than done. So, he might just as well give them a walk.
Projected Winner: Yankees
