Los Angeles Dodgers’ Rich Hill (6-4, 3.55 ERA) has had an incredible month so far, he’s gotten two wins out of the three games he’s played in this month. While Atlanta Braves’ Julio Teheran (7-7, 4.69 ERA) had a loss and a win in his last three starts this July. The two will face off as the Dodgers attempt to avoid a sweep to close their series against the Braves at Dodger Stadium.

Hill hasn’t given up more than one run in his last three starts; he’s only allowed two runs and one homer on 11 hits with 29 strikeouts in 19 innings throughout that span. Surprisingly, he’s been better at home with a 3.50 ERA compared to his 3.60 ERA in away games. However, his performances haven’t been translating into wins since he’s got a 3-3 record at Dodger Stadium versus his 3-1 standing in road games.

While Teheran is on a shaky path this month after giving up four runs and one homer on 12 hits with 18 strikeouts in 19.1 frames throughout his last three games; he also had a total of 10 walks. However, he’s been unstoppable in road games this year; he’s got a 6-0 record with a 2.53 ERA compared to his home games with a 1-7 standing and a 7.05 ERA.

Braves’ Freddie Freeman could potentially give Hill some problems; he might have mellowed down in his past five games but he’s gotten three runs on four hits during that span. Plus, he’s currently posting career highs in all of his statistics for this year; he’s got a .332/.432/.695 stat line and a 1.127 OPS.

On the other hand, Dodgers’ Corey Seager has been great against Teheran last year; he had two runs and two homers on two hits in six at bats against the Braves’ starting pitcher. He also has a .298/.393/.509 stat line and a .902 OPS.
Hill’s luck in home games might continue to plague him but the Dodgers’ offense will help them get some runs, after all it’s one of the reasons as to why they’re currently the best team in the league. However, Teheran’s competence in away games is certainly going to help Atlanta’s chances of sweeping this series especially after they crushed the Dodgers’ self-esteem with a 12-3 win in their last game.
Projected Winner: Atlanta Braves
