Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yu Darvish (6-9, 4.01 ERA) will be up against New York Mets’ Jacob deGrom (12-4, 3.29 ERA) at Citi Field. Can Darvish prove himself worthy for the Dodgers or will deGrom dominate the opposing team?

The Dodgers had a big leap and landed Yu Darvish at the trade deadline. In the last five seasons, the former Japanese Texas Ranger is first in strikeouts (11.3) per nine innings pitched in MLB. While his new teammates, Rich Hill and Clayton Kershaw, are on 4th and 5th place respectively. Plus, he already struck out 148 batters in over 137 frames and his ERA is at a career low this season.

On the other hand, Mets’ best pitcher has a record for most wins (12), strikeouts (162), and best ERA in their team. Last month, he gave up 29 hits, 12 runs, and five homers while striking out 37 batters in over 35.2 frames. Plus, the Dodgers’ batters have a .216 batting average against him.

Moving on to the batters’ side, Cody Bellinger (.268/ .348/ .606, .954 OPS) holds the record for the most homers (30) and RBI (71) in his team. He’s also a strong slugger against righties (.645 SLG) and has a good hitting average (.272) against them.

Meanwhile, Jay Bruce holds the record for the most homers (29), hits (104), and RBI (75) in his team. He was able to get 104 hits and 61 runs while getting struck out 100 times in over 397 at bats this season. Plus, Bruce is currently posting a .667/ .667/ 1.667, and a 2.333 OPS against Darvish.
The Dodgers are already ranked number one in pitching in the MLB; adding in Yu Darvish makes their line-up close to unstoppable. Back when Darvish was still with the Rangers, he only gave up three hits, three runs and two homers while striking out nine batters in over 7.1 innings against the Mets on June 7 this year. However, deGrom was able to strike out seven of the Dodgers’ batters while allowing three hits and one run in over seven frames last year.
