Meanwhile, Giants’ Hunter Pence (.251/ .295/ .370, .666 OPS) hits better against left handed pitchers (.264 AVG) than righties (.245). Last month, he was able to get 18 hits, 6 runs, and two dingers but got struck out 21 times in over 97 at bats. Plus, he is posting a .231/ .333/ .231 stat line and a .564 OPS against Arrieta.

Prediction

Last August 2 against the D-backs, Arrieta only allowed three hits and two runs while striking out eight batters in over seven frames but was not able to carry the Cubs to victory. Meanwhile, Moore allowed six hits, four runs and a homer while striking out four batters in over 5 innings versus the Athletics in his last game.

While Pence has a good stat line against Arrieta but his last hits were way back in 2014, other Giants’ batters have a low average against the Cubs’ starting pitcher. As for the Cubs, some of their batters might not have a good batting average against Moore but Rizzo was able to get two dingers from him this year.
